Sony Xperia 5 ii is official!
The Sony Xperia 5 ii has officially launched, with a release date of mid-October in the UK and asking price of £799 - not bad considering the premium specs, smart camera tech and impressive gaming chops. If you're a mobile gamer or pro photographer, the Xperia 5 ii could be the best new phone of 2020 for you.
Ahead of my unboxing and review of Sony's compact handset, here's a close look at some of the specs, features and other bits. Comparisons vs the Xperia 1 mark 2 are inevitable, although here you don't get that 4K display or wireless charging. For me, that's no biggie - I'd rather have the more affordable asking price and mini design.
Besides, you still get the Snapdragon 865 and a host of gamer features, including 120Hz refresh (plus 240Hz emulation). That's new compared with the original 5 and the 2020 flagship. The Sony Xperia 5 ii also boasts that triple lens camera tech we know and love, plus a far larger battery vs last year's version.
I'm looking forward to reviewing this compact beast, to see if it can really stand out against other premium phones. But what do you think so far, is this freshly launched mobile a worthy device?
